 Why commission primary care?

Delegated commissioning will enable the CCG to have an oversight of the whole patient pathway from seeing a GP for diagnosis to the treatment of their conditions. It will enable the CCG to share budges with social care, using the funding to target specific clinics areas which have been identified as a priority for our local population. In the longer term it will enable us to commission new models of primary care.

As we know our needs of our residents  and our own practices we can commission services better tailored to our population needs. We can also highlight and address any variation in quality more quickly and can guide practices on how they can get support to remedy those issues. We also have the flexibility to simplify reporting processes  which can help ease the administrative pressures that our practices are currently experiencing.
