Safeguarding Training - Requirements Summary     

Worcestershire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have a responsibility, along with other NHS organisations and every healthcare professional to ensure that people in vulnerable circumstances are not only safe but also receive the highest possible standard of care. The welfare of the people who come into contact with the services commissioned by the Worcestershire CCGs is paramount. 

The CCGs, as statutory bodies, have responsibility for ensuring those organisations, from which they commission services provide a safe system that safeguards adults (with care and support needs-referred to throughout as ‘adults’) and children from harm and abuse. The CCGs’ have membership on the countywide Worcestershire Safeguarding Adults Board (WSAB) and Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Partnership Board (WSCP) (which replaces the Worcestershire Safeguarding Children Board). These members have responsibility to inform the CCGs of safeguarding requirements, lessons learnt and developments. The CCGs’ Safeguarding Team supports the work of WSAB and WSCP as members of the Boards and Subgroups.

It is the vision of the CCGs that safeguarding outcomes for adults and children are improved; and that adults and children are safe when they use services commissioned by the CCGs. In order to achieve this, every contact adults and children have with the NHS will be with practitioners and providers who: have a knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues; who work in an organisation that has robust safeguarding systems and processes; and which has a culture which encourages openness and transparency and includes learning.
