Five local organisations to benefit from grant scheme

VCS big
Five Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations across Worcestershire are set to benefit from a local health grant scheme.

In September last year the three Worcestershire CCGs (NHS Redditch and Bromsgrove, NHS South Worcestershire, NHS Wyre Forest) launched their first grant process for VCS organisations to apply for, to help organisations develop and improve services on offer to local residents.

The CCGs received 40 applications and a panel of seven scored them and debated which were innovative, which would support patients most and which would support the CCGs objective’s best.
The following five organisations and projects were granted funding:
  • The Alzheimer’s Society – self care for those with dementia and their carers
  • Worcestershire YMCA – mental health awareness and counselling
  • Sight Concern – ActivEYES: physical activity for those with sight loss
  • Heartstart Malvern – resuscitation training
  • Bromsgrove and Redditch Network – micro-volunteering

Chris Emerson, Director of Commissioning for the Worcestershire CCGs, said: “We received a wide range of applications and I’d like to thank all the organisations that took time to apply.

“Voluntary and community organisations contribute an enormous wealth of expertise and experience to support the health and wellbeing of the Worcestershire population. The work of the voluntary sector is highly valued, therefore we are delighted that we can support their work through these grants.

“We look forward to seeing the difference that this funding makes over the next 12 months.”

The funding is available for a year starting in April 2017.
